Submit your art for Envisioning a Just ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø by Oct. 20

The initiative has returned for a second year and is accepting submissions fromÌýexperienced and emerging artists across the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and broader ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø community.

Designed to expand and celebrate diverse cultures and perspectives, the art program is a partnership among Pitt, the Carnegie Museums of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, the Carnegie Library of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø and community collaborators, including 1Hood Media and the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. Artists are challenged to submit work that depicts their vision of justice and equity in ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø through any of the following categories:

  • Writing for the page: short story, poetry, personal essay and flash fiction
  • Visual art: 2D andÌý3D art, painting, photography, sculpture, fiber art and graphic design
  • Performance: music, dance, slam poetry, spoken word
  • Video and interdisciplinary: works that cross categories, including mixed media and digital art

Anyone 17 and younger by the deadline can submit to the Youth Arts division in any category.

Participants must . Submissions will be reviewed by judges from the local art community. Winners, who will receive awards of up to $2,000, will be announced in December. Selected works will be featured in public exhibitions throughout ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø in February 2025.
