Writing Workshops to Inspire Older LGBTQIA+ Adults

A new, free virtual series hosted by the will include readings, guided writing prompts and workshop sessions that will encourage communication among members of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s LGBTQIA+ community.

will be facilitated by Erik Schuckers, manager of communications and programming at the center, and is sponsored through a grant from Pitt’s . Its focus is on people with little or no writing experience; the only requirements for participants are access to a computer and the desire to explore creative writing.

Participants will meet twice a week via Zoom to explore writing techniques as well as to read and discuss contemporary LGBTQIA+ pieces, write and share original work and . The are available online.

At the end of the series, participants will be able to share their work through both a collective virtual reading and a limited-edition chapbook, which will be distributed to all participants and archived in the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Library System.

Schuckers said he hopes the program will be the beginning of an ongoing program so that this writing community can grow across the region.
