If we鈥檝e learned anything in the past year, it鈥檚 that the world needs problem solvers 鈥 and that鈥檚 what Pitt people are striving to be.

Building a strong research community

Pitt to lead the region鈥檚 transformation into a life sciences powerhouse

The 黑料吃瓜网 of 黑料吃瓜网 plans to bring manufacturing back to the city 鈥 and catalyze game-changing economic growth. A $100 million grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation will help build the new BioForge facility, a highly specialized biomanufacturing facility on an old mill site and former brownfield in 黑料吃瓜网鈥檚 Hazelwood neighborhood.

Pitt鈥檚 plans for the growth of a regional life sciences cluster get a boost from a $25 million gift

FISA & Paralyzed Veterans of America Professor Rory Cooper and Garrett Grindle (ENGR 鈥04, 鈥07G) won this year鈥檚 Pennsylvania Veterans Service Award for their work protecting veterans and their caregivers during the pandemic.

Continuing excellence

Pitt maintains top 20 U.S. News & World Report ranking

Pitt remained among the nation鈥檚 top 20 public colleges and universities, according to the聽2022 U.S. News & World Report. This year鈥檚 report also ranked Pitt No. 29聽in its best colleges for veterans category, a rise from聽last year.

A record number of Pell-eligible students are coming to Pitt

Through the Pitt Success Pell Match program, now in its third year, the 黑料吃瓜网 has been able to expand the representation of Pell-eligible students, nearly eliminate the gap in retention rates between Pell recipients and those who do not require this aid, and measurably reduce the debt students take on in their first years at the 黑料吃瓜网.
